In order to make the administration as accessible as possible to the needs of modern society, the Ministry of the Interior will introduce an extended working time in the Regional Unit for Civil Status and Personal Documents in Podgorica. On this occasion, the Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić visited this organizational unit, which according to the statistics daily provides about 2,000 services to citizens on various bases.

"From conversations with officials, as well as citizens, the need arose that in the coming period, most likely during the month of May, we will extend working hours in the Regional Unit for Civil Status and Personal Documents in Podgorica from 7AM to 7 PM, and providing desk services to citizens from 8 AM to 6 PM,"said Minister Nuhodžić.

According to the minister, the goal of this decision is to make the communication of the MoI with the citizens as good as possible, to make the services as efficient and as closer as possible to the citizens, and to shorten the waiting time for the desk services.

The Minister reminded that the current working hours of regional units and branches for civil status and personal documents in Montenegrin cities are from 7 AM to 3 PM, and the work with citizens is organized in the period from 8 AM to 2 PM.

On this occasion, he announced the introduction of a ten-hour working time from 7 AM to 5 PM, i.e. providing services to citizens from 8 AM to 4 PM in the regional branches in the coastal cities, which will be established during the summer months - from June to August - in order to provide services to citizens, tourists and businessmen in this part of the country in an accessible and quality manner in the most frequent period of the year.

The Ministry of the Interior is also working on the implementation of the third generation document implementation project, which, as announced by the Minister, will largely consolidate services from the domain of public administration and increase the quality of services, in accordance with the standards of the European Union.

The dynamics of the activities of the Ministry of the Interior in the field of civil status have been further strengthened by supporting the organization of consular days, during which the services of obtaining travel documents are made available to our citizens abroad through the Mobile Biometric Office of the MoI, and this good practice will continue in the future.
