Nuhodžić-Uzunkaya: Intensive cooperation between the police of Montenegro and Turkey for a stronger response to common security challenges

Interior Minister Mevludin Nuhodžić and Director of the Police Directorate Veselin Veljović met today with the delegation of the Police of the Republic of Turkey, who is in an official visit to Montenegro, led by the director of the institution, Jelal Uzunkaya. Ambassador Songul Ozan also attended the meeting in front of the Turkish delegation.

The meeting noted good and friendly relations and dynamic cooperation between the two countries' police, both on the operational plan and in the part of the exchange of operational data, as well as in the domain of exchange of experiences and practical knowledge.

Minister Nuhodžić thanked for the support Turkey provided to our country on its path to NATO membership and expressed the belief that the trend of positive relations will continue on the path of Montenegrin integration in the EU.

The Minister said that Montenegro is committed to strengthening regional and international cooperation in order to strengthen the joint fight against organized and other forms of crime, trafficking in human beings, and illegal migration and global phenomena such as terrorism.

Director Uzunkaya praised Montenegro's efforts in the fight against security challenges, both regionally and internationally, and stressed that the role of Montenegro as a stability factor is recognized in the region and that our country is a good example of how through quality and constructive cooperation good results can be achieved.

Readiness was jointly expressed for further improvement of relations between the two interior ministries, especially in the part of police cooperation, through the implementation of existing and launching new projects based on intensive exchange of experiences, through training and actions, in order to strengthen the response to common security challenges and strengthen the capacity of the law enforcement.
