Prime Minister Duško Marković and United States Congress (US) delegation, led by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, agreed that the Montenegrin-US partnership is important for Montenegro's further democratic and economic development, and represents support for stability and the European perspective of the region.

"We have further strengthened our partnership through the alliance in NATO, and support of the US Congress was crucial in that. We also do not forget the support of the recently deceased Senator John McCain, who supported us when we needed it most," said Prime Minister Duško Marković during a working lunch with the congressional delegation.

The Prime Minister informed the delegation about all aspects of democratic and economic development that Montenegro has been recording on a continuous basis, especially in recent years. PM Marković thanked Washington for its continued support and understanding of our priorities, saying that without that support Montenegro would not be where it is today, and that Montenegro especially values cooperation and assistance in strengthening the rule of law and our institutions. "Without strong and independent institutions there can be no prosperity," the Prime Minister said.

The meeting assessed that Montenegro, as a politically and economically stable society, is fully prepared for additional presence of US investments, especially in the fields of tourism, energy, infrastructure and agriculture.
