PM Marković: There is no threat to environment in Sinjajevina, with national security interest there is no polemics

Prime Minister Marković said earlier today on Sinjajevina, where military – shooting range of the Armed Forces of Montenegro construction is planned, that there is no and there will be no threat to the environment, that the allegations of threatening are political manipulation because the reason of the pressure is not ecology but policy and that there is no polemic discussion of security and national state interest.
"I cannot wait (proceedings on criminal charges for polygon on Sinjajevina) that in the court proceedings we unmask manipulating access of those who challenge this decision of the Government. Military – shooting range on the mountain Sinjajevina is defined by strategic document of the Government and the country. Spatial plan says that strategic documents and legislative documents for defence apply when it comes to military facilities. Therefore, the long – term defence development from 2015 to 2025 intended that space for the military training activities of the Armed Forces of Montenegro. Law on Defence was told that all the others documents subordinated to the interests of defence. So when it comes to national security and defence system – there is no polemics in this regard. The Government cannot bring into question the development of the Armed Forces as a key segment of defence of state security and its citizens and it will work regardless of the pressures that are not essential and environmental but political and destructive. It is a kind of a hybrid activity on the Government and its institutions and legal and constitutional order in the country. The Government has an obligation to protect it," Prime Minister Duško Marković said answering questions of journalists.
The Armed Forces of Montenegro does not threaten but preserves the environment and that is the case in our country and in other countries, the Prime Minister noted.
"There we do not jeopardize the environment, but we keep the environment. Find examples in Montenegro, in the environment and in Europe where army was in an area which has been devastated. This space is preserved. In Montenegro we have such examples. The Luštica was used once for military purposes. Today, the Luštica is biggest development resource of Montenegro but also of the whole Mediterranean. The Valdanos was property that was under the army protection. Whether it was the devastation in that area? There was devastation. Now, when that space is given to the municipality management on the basis of a special plan, that space now is being attacked. Therefore, I urge those who want to put up their tents on Sinjajevina to crucify them on Valdanos and to protect it of usurpation, criminal usurpation of its neighbours and their friends and political comrades," the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister concluded that in case of Sinjajevina there is no attack on the environment, nor environment compromising but it comes to the defence interest.
"The Government is behind this and it will provide that interest," Prime Minister Duško Marković stated answering questions of journalists.
