4th International Space Forum at Ministerial Level – The Mediterranean Chapter held in Reggio Calabria, Italy
The 4th International Space Forum – The Mediterranean Chapter on the topic of “Space Technology and Applications meet Mediterranean Needs” was held today in Reggio Calabria, Italy. In the Forum, the Ministry of Science of Montenegro was represented by Director General in the Directorate for Scientific Research Activities, Dr. Darko Petrušić.
“Satellite observations provide greatly important information for climate simulations and creation of various mathematical models in an attempt to simulate natural processes and monitor changes in the field, which is why such modern technologies should be used to protect the Mediterranean basin that we are proud of”, Mr. Petrušić said in his address, adding that we became aware of the crucial importance of environmental protection in Montenegro, which is reflected in our Smart Specialisation Strategy, a policy document we adopted in June 2019 as the first non-EU country to adopt S3 Strategy. Furthermore, Director General Petrušić indicated that we were now focusing on knowledge sharing and technology transfer, with a view to strengthen our participation in international space technology initiatives.
First launched in 2015 by the IAF Vice President for Science & Academic Relations, the International Space Forum is an annual ministerial gathering that aims to encourage global and local debate on the need to promote greater participation of universities and national academies in space activities.
