Nikšić, Montenegro (16 September 2019) – Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the end of his working visit to Nikšić that the municipality follows Government's strategic development policies that are focused on the overall development of the country and improving the quality of life of its citizens, and that in Nikšić we see a boom in investments from both the public and the private sector.
"Here we see progress in every place and the main indicator of such a trend, despite the unfounded criticism of those who are unable to recognise the results, is the most valuable information that the unemployment rate in Nikšić today is below 13 percent. In early 2016, it was 22.8 percent. So, people in Nikšić are working, people in Nikšić are getting employment, a lot is being done in Nikšić on the development of utility infrastructure, new roads, water supply, social infrastructure - over 1,000 apartments are being built today in Nikšić. Therefore, we have a new quality here, we have people here who can finance it, and the State is investing tens of millions through its capital projects. Only the reconstruction of the regional road from Nikšić to Vilusi or what we have done from Petrovići to Vraćenovići and of course the entry into the procedure of construction of a new road from Cetinje via Čevo to Nikšić will cost over EUR 50 million. We have a great situation in Nikšić, one serious team, a good partnership between the Government and the Municipality," the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister listed the city's projects that he discussed with local management today, such as phase II of the sewer system, reconstruction of the city football stadium, for which the Government allocated three, and the Football Association of Montenegro 1.5 million euros.
The Prime Minister in Župa: I give you my word that the Government will provide funds for the whole road
The Prime Minister, alongside Minister of Sports and Youth Nikola Janović, laid the foundation stone for the construction of a multifunctional playground at the Dušan Bojović Elementary School in Župa. On that occasion, PM Marković promised that the Government would finance the construction of the entire section of the road from Župa to Nikšić in the length of 21km.
Prime Minister Marković pointed to the several companies starting businesses in Župa, adding that this gives perspective to this area.
"It is quite certain that in Župa people will live better, that people here will have a reason not only to stay but also to come. The young people will stay here because today we are launching the construction of a multipurpose sports ground thanks to the Ministry of Sport and Minister Janović, who initiated not only this investment here but four other similar investments in Nikšić," PM Marković stressed.

The prosecution must respond promptly and responsibly to the recording
The Prime Minister said, answering the journalists' questions at the end of the visit, that the call recording, which was published in the media last night, which was allegedly conducted by fugitive businessman Duško Knežević and Secretary of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office Nenad Vujošević, surprised him and that institutions must respond quickly and responsibly.
"It is now a test of the ability of the State Prosecutor's Office to either stop the obstruction in compromising the Prosecution for undue influence, or to expose those involved in bribery and corruption and arrest them," the Prime Minister emphasised.
"My message is that the Special and not only the Special Prosecutor's Office, but the entire Prosecution must resolve the case as soon as possible. This is in the interest of the Prosecution as a state body, in the interest of Montenegro and the sustainability of its legal system. I believe that this will be the case and I do not want to think that this case will not be resolved in this way and within such deadlines. I believe this is an opportunity for the Prosecutorial Council to hold its session and to resolve any weaknesses, if any, as soon as possible. Of course, we have to take into account that the accusation comes from a man accused of one of the biggest financial frauds in the country, which has had and could have had lasting consequences, not only for our public finances, but also for our economy. But in any case, the State must respond seriously, responsibly and quickly. That is my message and my request. …. This means that the response must be prompt and vigorous. We have the mechanisms, the law, we have the people and now it is a test of the ability of the State Prosecutor's Office to either stop obstruction in compromising the Prosecution for undue influence, or to expose those involved in bribery and corruption and arrest them," the Prime Minister said.

The Government has resolved the housing issue of 1,550 civil servants in these two years
Asked to comment on European Commissioner Johannes Hahn's alleged statement on Government's housing policy, the Prime Minister said that the Commissioner should take care of standards for addressing social and housing needs in his country, within the EU, and that we have a duty to act in the interests of our citizens. "This is not a policy that requires standards, this is our national policy and our right," Prime Minister Duško Marković said.
The Prime Minister noted that he was not sure in what context this statement was made but added that we do not apply EU practice but the interest of the State.
"We address housing issues for everyone who needs it. We build apartments for pensioners, employees in health care, education, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of the Interior. In the two years of this Government's mandate alone, more than EUR 8 million have been directed to the cooperative housing unions and the employees of these bodies, to address the housing issue under these conditions. We have resolved more than 1,550 housing issues in these two years in different sectors under favourable conditions," PM Marković said.
Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System and Minister of Agriculture Milutin Simović, Minister of Sports and Youth Nikola Janović, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Kemal Purišić and Director of the Public Works Administration Rešad Nuhodžić also paid visit to Nikšić.
