PM Marković at Miločer Development Forum: Harsh punitive policy is important for responsible attitude towards environment

Education, but also a harsh punitive policy, is important for a more responsible attitude towards the environment, Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the 24th Regional Miločer Development Forum in Cetinje.
"The polluter must be punished regardless of whether he is an individual or a company. We must not allow the recurrence of pollution such as that in the Ćehotina River in Pljevlja, in Lim in Bijelo Polje or such as pollution of the Zeta River," Prime Minister Marković noted at the panel "Ecology – Regulation, Education and Business".
The environment, the Prime Minister stressed, was one of the few issues on which consensus was reached back in 1991: "Most citizens understand the importance of protecting the environment, but this is contrary to what we see every day around us. That's worrying."
PM Marković pointed out that the Government is spending over EUR 50 million for the rehabilitation of black ecological points – the removal of grit in Bijela, the rehabilitation of ash landfill in Pljevlja, the rehabilitation of industrial waste from the Aluminum Plant (KAP). Furthermore, he referred to the construction of the motorway and said the motorway was the project of a lifetime, but that it should not and would not permanently devastate the environment.
In his opening address, referring to the messages from the previous Miločer Forum and what happened afterwards, Prime Minister Marković said that he was pleased with the Government's work in the previous year.
"We expect the final results of economic growth for 2018 soon and it will reach 5%. This growth is accompanied by all the positive elements of economic and fiscal policy," the Prime Minister of Montenegro emphasised.
