Prime Minister Djukanovic once again thanked Mr Grunnet for the OSCEs and his personal contribution to the implementation of the referendum on Montenegros state status. He also informed his guest of post-referendum developments in Montenegro, noting that the process of international recognition, admission to international organizations and establishment of diplomatic relations with other countries was being carried out with much success.
The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction that the OSCE/ODIHR Mission, headed by Mr Grunnet, would also observe the September elections. In addition, he expressed confidence that the elections would be carried out in a fair and democratic atmosphere, which would help realize further European perspective for Montenegro. To this end, the Government and its institutions are ready to provide all the necessary support to the Mission.
Mr Grunnet informed the Prime Minister of his activities regarding the preparation for the elections and the structure of the Mission, comprising nine international members and seventeen field observers positioned throughout the country. He added that, in accordance with the OSCE/ODIHR regulations, he expected the member states to sent another 150 observers immediately before the elections.
