Minister of Foreign Affairs Srđan Darmanović participated in the meeting of foreign ministers of member states and observers of the US-Adriatic Charter (A5), organised under the Albanian Presidency in New York on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The foreign ministers discussed the importance of continuing the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkan countries, as well as the continued support of the US for this process.

Minister Darmanović said that Montenegro is committed to common goals and that it continues to be an active promoter of the Open-door policy.

"A5 and other regional initiatives are crucial for the security of our region, for European and Euro-Atlantic perspective of the Western Balkan countries," the head of the Montenegrin diplomacy stressed.

Welcoming the achievements of North Macedonia, FM Darmanović underscored that another country will soon become a NATO ally, which makes a huge contribution to regional stability.

On the sidelines of the session, the head of Montenegrin diplomacy also attended a ministerial meeting of the Alliance for Multilateralism, an initiative launched by Germany and France. It was noted that a multilateral, rule-based order guarantees international stability and peace, and that common challenges can only be resolved through cooperation.

During his stay in New York, Foreign Minister Darmanović and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu signed a protocol on cooperation in education relating to student scholarships and an agreement between the two governments on cooperation in the field of culture.
