Projects financed by the German KfW Development Bank, implemented in Montenegro and worth around EUR 300 million, gave a strong impetus to the Government's policies aimed at development, economic growth and better life of citizens, Prime Minister Duško Marković and Director for Southeast Europe and Turkey within the KfW Development Bank Christoph Tiskens assessed at the meeting.

The main sectors in which KfW has implemented projects over the past two decades have been related to environmental protection, namely water supply and wastewater treatment, as well as sustainable energy investments.

"Investment of over EUR 80 million in water supply and wastewater infrastructure implemented in coastal municipalities, as well as the forthcoming investment of EUR 120 million, are strong support to the Government's efforts to strengthen sustainable development and ecology in the country," PM Marković stressed.

Tiskens praised the Government's strong support for the implementation of the projects and informed the Prime Minister about the ongoing and planned projects in Montenegro, as well as overcoming existing challenges, which are found in the objective constraints on the ground and administrative procedures. Director Tiskens assessed the cooperation as successful, and said that KfW had also received an additional grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework of about EUR nine million which will be invested in Montenegro.

The Prime Minister recalled high economic growth of about five percent, which is achieved despite fiscal consolidation measures. He welcomed the projects related to achieving energy efficiency in public institutions, and in this context emphasised that the energy sector is a great opportunity for investment, especially in renewable energy sources.

Ministers of Finance and Sustainable Development and Tourism Darko Radunović and Pavle Radulović, as well as German Ambassador to Podgorica Robert Weber attended the meeting.
