PM Marković meets with Slovenian MPs: Slovenia strongly supports Montenegro's EU accession

Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted today delegation of the Committee on Foreign Policy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, led by Chairman of the Committee Matjaž Nemec. The meeting noted that the strategic policy of the European Union's enlargement to the Western Balkans is a matter of future and security of not only the region but the whole of Europe, and it is therefore important that it is essential. 

Nemec praised Montenegro's successes and results and stressed that Slovenia considers our country an important partner because of the stability it brings to the Western Balkans region. He stressed that the enlargement of the EU and the Schengen area is a priority of Slovenian policy and that it will strongly support Montenegro and the Western Balkan countries in the integration process.

Prime Minister Marković highlighted the excellent bilateral political relations between Montenegro and Slovenia, the alliance in NATO, and pointed out the possibilities of further strengthening of economic relations, which is stimulated by the improved business environment in our country, strengthened institutions and strengthened rule of law.

"Last year, we had almost EUR one billion of foreign direct investment, and a good upward trend continued this year. We want new investments from Slovenia, because in addition to money, we also need new knowledge and skills," the Prime Minister said and added that the focus is on medium and small enterprises in the real sector.

Speaking about the economic situation in Montenegro, PM Marković said that strong economic growth of about five percent was achieved, unemployment was reduced by about eight percent, the number of employees was increased, and through the record Capital Budget we are strongly improving the overall infrastructure.
