Day of Armed Forces of Montenegro celebrated in Nikšić

Nikšić, Montenegro (7 October 2019) -- Day of the Montenegrin Armed Forces was celebrated in Nikšić earlier today. Addressing many guests, including President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, Speaker of the Parliament Ivan Brajović and Prime Minister Duško Marković, Minister of Defence Predrag Bošković wished happy the Day of the Armed Forces and recalled Montenegro's glorious history.

During the ceremony, nine cadets, who successfully completed military academies abroad, were promoted to the rank of lieutenant. In addition, 76 new contract soldiers were sworn in.

The ceremony was preceded by a meeting of Defence Minister Bošković with President Đukanovic and Prime Minister Marković. It was an opportunity to look back at the achievements of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro over the past three years and to present plans for the next period. Minister Bošković pointed out that the appearance and composition of the army significantly altered, that equipment and infrastructure were constantly being rebuilt. He also emphasised that all normative and strategic documents were adopted in accordance with NATO standards, adding that the defence system was successfully transformed in line with international standards, strategic and social goals of the State.
