Montenegro Creative Forum is step forward towards development of Montenegrin creative sector

Prime Minister Duško Marković opened in Podgorica earlier today a conference titled "Montenegro Creative Forum" by noting that the Government will not save money when it comes to culture, that the Government encourages culture and artists in this area in many ways and that the aim is to link culture and economy in further branding of the country and that in that regard the Government expects support from artists.
Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović emphasised the importance of such an event for the overall development of culture.
"It is a pleasure that this year we will have the opportunity to discuss, in a critical and transparent manner, the guidelines for the further development of the Montenegrin culture, and above all those cultural policies that should further enhance and improve the visibility of the work of our authors and artists," Minister Bogdanović said.
Minister Bogdanović stressed that such a forum is a step forward in additional education and emancipation of our wider cultural background.
UNDP Resident Representative for Montenegro Daniela Gasparikova pointed to the economic potential of the sector - "The creative industry in the European Union employs over 7 million people and plays a key role in boosting competitiveness. This potential is of utmost importance for Montenegro, where almost every third young person is unemployed. We all know that young people are an inexhaustible source of creative energy, so small economies like Montenegro should take advantage of this supply of talent, which in turn will create demand. Unfortunately, women, like young people, face similar challenges in terms of lower representation on the labour market and income differentials."
Gasparikova expressed satisfaction with the fact that Montenegro is actively engaged in addressing these challenges and added - “Our joint project 'Montenegro Creative' is one of the first steps in fulfilling a new vision of cultural policies. UNDP and the Ministry of Culture will enhance the economic potential of cultural heritage through the establishment of creative centers."
