Prime Minister Duško Marković visited several construction sites in Municipality of Plav, where works worth around EUR six million are being carried out. PM Marković expressed satisfaction with the works and cooperation with local leadership, saying that the local governing coalition is functioning well and that it has excellent cooperation with the Government.

"I was here in March and had a meeting with the President of the Municipality and his team. At the time, we made an analysis of what was happening in Plav, which was accompanied not only by their need for development and investment, but also by the rehabilitation of local public finances. We then promised that things would change in Plav, that we would give Plav new content and new investment momentum and, of course, work to stabilise local public finances. As you may recall, I also said that I would come to Plav regularly and follow developments here. That is why I am here today at the end of the year, when the construction season expires," Prime Minister Marković told the journalists at the end of his visit.

The Prime Minister visited the works on the first phase of the Plav – Vojno selo – Gusinje road, worth EUR 850,000, as well as reconstruction works of Prnjavorska Street, totaling about EUR 670,000 and construction of a new town square worth about EUR half a million.

"The contractor has guaranteed that within twenty days the first section will be completed. You know that we have already selected a contractor for the second section, worth over EUR 3.5 million. We are definitely going to finish the infrastructure that is important for both Plav and Gusinje. At the same time, we also visited the works on road infrastructure in the city - Ribarska Street, Prnjavorska Street. I believe that the town square will bring together all the progressive young forces of Plav, that new initiatives will be launched in this square. You see that the Government, with its commitment to the development of the North, has no special priorities but the whole of the North is in our focus. So, in every municipality, works are ongoing. I believe that infrastructure is a prerequisite for development and job creation. I think this commitment confirmed it in these two and a half years because we reduced the unemployment rate by over 8 percent and of course created thousands of new jobs," the Prime Minister said.

PM Marković noted that the local governing coalition is functioning well and that the Government and the local government in Plav are working devotedly and together, which is evident.

Representatives of the local leadership of Plav – President of the Municipality Mirsad Barjaktarević and President of the Municipal Assembly Šefket Jevrić expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the support.

The Prime Minister and local leadership agreed that further priorities should be the road project towards Dečani in Kosovo and the protection and valorisation of Lake Plav.
