SEEIIST presented at Clinical Engineering and Health Technology Management Congress in Rome

Rome, Italy (21 October 2019) -- At the invitation of Chair of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) Tom Judda, Minister of Science Sanja Damjanović took part in the International Congress of Clinical Engineering and Medical Technology, taking place in Rome on 21-22 October. The 3rd International Congress brought together the world's top experts in the fields of biomedicine, clinical engineering, scientific and academic community, government representatives, representatives of the World Health Organisation, as well as relevant participants in the medical and technology industry.

Sponsored by the Division of Clinical Engineering of IFMBE, the event covered a wide range of topics: from clinical risk management, medical ICT technologies and international standards and regulations to the assessment of modern medical technologies and the development of innovative devices. The overall objective is to initiate an open discussion to share experiences and best practices regarding global impact that medical technologies have on the quality and effectiveness of healthcare in different environments. The intention is to create synergies in the field of high medical technology and to foster partnerships between relevant actors in industry, medicine, politics and academia.

At a panel discussion, sponsored by the International Community for Physics and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM), Minister Damjanović gave a presentation on the SEEIIST project, placing special emphasis on cutting edge technologies in the treatment of various types of cancer by hadron therapy and the use of broad spectrum of heavier ions and carbon.
