"The Government of Montenegro is making constant efforts to improve the position of young people, because the issue of youth is of interdepartmental importance. Various Government programmes and policies have implemented a number of activities and programmes that meet the needs of young people in various fields," Minister of Sports and Youth Nikola Janović said on the occasion of marking the first year of existence of the European Youth Card in Montenegro.
The Government of Montenegro, guided by the key principles of youth mobility, activism and networking, joined the European Youth Card project in order to enhance their personal and social development.
Since April 2018, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the European Youth Card Association and the NGO Center for Youth Education, has provided ongoing support to the implementation of the European Youth Card project in Montenegro. The Youth Card is an internationally recognised benefit card for young people aged 13-29 who use over 130 discounts in Montenegro and 70,000 discounts in Europe for free.
"In just one year, in cooperation with our partners nationally and locally, we were able to distribute close to 5,000 free cards to young people across Montenegro, who thus became beneficiaries of the benefits and discounts offered by the card in 37 European countries," Janović said.
Since its establishment, the Ministry of Sports and Youth has the desire and political will to be a reliable and important partner to young people in Montenegro, to continuously improve their status and position and jointly address the challenges they face, Janović concluded.
