According to the new World's Bank Report on the Ease of Doing Business, Montenegro ranked 50th on the list of 190 ranged countries. Compared to the last year's Report, Montenegro has increased its rating for 1.07 (from 72.73 to 73.8) and maintained the same rank.
The most significant progress was made at indicators of building permits, where Montenegro was on the 40th place and thus improved 35 places in the rankings in this area. In comparison with last year, according to the methodology used by the World Bank, Montenegro reduced the cost and time required to obtain a building permit.
Such progress is a confirmation that the World Bank recognizes continuously the reform efforts that Montenegro implemented in the area of building permitting and above all established a new legal framework from 2017.
The progress has been made with the indicators of cross – border trade. This indicator treats the procedures for import and export. Montenegro has improved 6 places in the ranking by reducing the time and costs required for import and the costs of export.
In the area of obtaining connections for electricity, the time or number of days and costs are reduced with unchanged rank.
For other indicators there was no change in the ratings compared to last year and corrections in the rank are result of the intensive reform processes, implemented by other countries.
