Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Trade Union of Education earlier today agreed on a proposal to increase the salaries of employees in education, in which the Government will give the final word. It is proposed to increase to 9 % in 2020 and to 3 % in 2021 on almost increased earnings from 2020, i.e. over 13 % cumulatively by the beginning of 2021. Furthermore, it will be proposed to increase the Government's allocation for the housing needs of employees in education through cooperative "Solidarity”, so from the next year it would not be less than EUR 700 000 annually. That is the conclusion of today's discussions on the Main Board of the Trade Union of Education, headed by President Zvonko Pavićević and Minister of Education Damir Šehović. Prime Minister Duško Marković recently announced an increase in earnings of employees in education.

As it is well known, the initial request of the Trade Union in connection with the increase in earnings was at the level of 10 % and today's agreed proposal that will be sent to the Government procedures, practically greater than request. The fiscal impact of such a proposal is estimated at around EUR 13 million per year. This would also be the largest increase from 2007 and one of the largest increase in the Region. The last growth of earnings in education was to 5.5 % in 2016.

Also they discussed the allocations of the Government on Housing fund of the cooperative "Solidarity". In the previous years, these allocations was EUR 450 000 per year, and to 2017 they were raised to EUR 600 000 per year. As it was announced during the today's discussion, from the next year can be expected to increase for another minimum of EUR 100 000 per year and that from the next year the Government allocates a minimum of EUR 700 000 per year for housing needs of employees in education.
