PM Marković meets with OECD Deputy Secretary General: Montenegro strengthens its credibility on international finance market

Budva, Montenegro (24 October 2019) -- Montenegro successfully tackled the challenge of stabilisation of public finances and strengthened its credibility on the international finance market, Prime Minister Duško Marković noted at the meeting with Deputy Secretary – General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Urlik Vestergaard Knudsen, held on the sidelines of the economic conference of Chamber of Commerce in Budva.
Prime Minister Marković emphasised that the Government is strongly committed to economic growth and development, reduction of unemployment, valorisation of resources in energy, tourism, agriculture and the implementation of structural reforms and strengthening the rule of law.
"All this, along with our membership in NATO, has resulted in increased interest of foreign investors. In the first nine months of this year, inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) was 46% higher than the same period last year," said the Prime Minister and highlighted that Montenegro has become a prestigious, not only tourist but also an investment destination.
Deputy Secretary General of the OECD Knudsen praised the leadership position of Montenegro in the region and congratulated on the achieved results, particularly stressing the improvement of policies relating to small and medium - sized enterprises. He pointed out the readiness of his organisation to continue helping Montenegro and that in particular, they can provide expertise in the areas of energy, labour and education.
