PM Marković: Government does not give political assessments but deals with other issues more important to citizens
Podgorica, Montenegro (30 October) -- The labelling of the Government as biased in any court proceedings is unfounded and inadmissible, and the Government will not give political assessments regarding the decisions made in the Parliament, because it deals with other issues which are more important to citizens, Prime Minister Duško Marković stated at the Prime Minister's Questions session in the Parliament earlier today.
Responding to the question from by Andrija Mandić, MP from the Democratic Front, who linked the Prosecutor's Office's actions to his party counterparts with the Government, the Prime Minister said it is the right of an MP to think that he is the subject of an "outrageous prosecutorial dictatorship", but that it can be only personal attitude and subjective feeling.
"But at the same time, I reject as false your remark that this alleged dictatorship is strongly supported by the Government. Your personal feeling is one thing, but labelling of the Government as biased in concrete or any other case in unreasonable, unfounded and even impermissible," the Prime Minister stressed.
The Prime Minister noted that, based upon the Constitution, the Prosecutor's Office is a unique and independent body and that the Prosecutorial Council is elected by the Parliament.
"Therefore, do not seek answers to the many of your questions from the Prime Minister. Because the Government is not the arbiter between other branches of government… And to be clear, the Government that I lead has no luxury of resolving mutual misunderstandings and personal dissatisfaction, or to offer political assessments in relation to the decisions made in the Parliament, in which you participate. Currently, the Government is addressing other issues that are more important to citizens such as how to increase earnings in education and health, how to provide the continuation of economic growth in order to consequently increase employment and quality of life of citizens. Despite your indifferent and ignorant attitude toward these topics, I am offering you a dialogue about these very issues, because they are equally important to every citizen, both to those who support your policy and those who support our policy," Prime Minister Marković stated.
