Number of blocked transaction accounts decreases, PM Marković says

Podgorica, Montenegro (30 October 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković noted in Parliament earlier today that data from the Central Bank of Montenegro indicate that the number of active transaction accounts that were blocked has decreased from 32.9% at the beginning of the year to 29.4% at this moment, that the debt on the basis of which the accounts were blocked was reduced from EUR 635.3 million to 618,7 million, and that these facts raise some moderate optimism.
“The growth of economic activity, which is best reflected by the intense GDP growth rates, obviously has a positive impact on the liquidity of the real sector as well. It is important to note, however, that this is an indicator that must be monitored on a permanent basis, but should not be acted upon without proper analysis and caution. Therefore, the Government's commitment is to support liquidity indirectly through substantive support for entrepreneurship development,” the Prime Minister stated.
The Prime Minister said that in order to increase the liquidity of the real sector under the corporate liquidity programme, 463 loans in the total amount of EUR 324 million have been placed during this Government's term of office, that the Ministry of Economy has implemented the Programme for Improving the Competitiveness of the Economy for 2019, which contains 10 programme lines and that EUR 1.6 million of grants are available to businesses.
“Therefore, we fully support entrepreneurial ideas through the creation of new content and business practices. This, combined with other development policies, will certainly result in improved liquidity,”said Prime Minister Duško Marković.
