Podgorica, Montenegro (6 November 12019) -- Minister of Finance Darko Radunović signed earlier today, in the presence of Minister of Damir Šehović, a contract with the European Investment Bank (EIB) providing EUR 18 million for the Montenegrin education improvement programme. The total value of the project is EUR 40 million and the rest is provided from its own resources. The agreement was signed by Head of the EIB Division for Slovenia, Croatia and the Western Balkans Matteo Rivellini and Head of Cooperation in the EU Delegation to Montenegro Herman Schulz.

With this signing, the Government of Montenegro has officially entered one of the largest investment cycles in education, within which 11 projects for the construction, reconstruction and equipping of schools are planned, after which approximately 3 500 new places will be opened for children in educational institutions of Montenegro. It is planned that the said EUR 40 million will be spent or put into operation by the end of 2023.

Minister Radunović on this occasion stated: “The purpose of this loan is to improve the Montenegrin education. The project for which we have today signed a contract of 18 million euros is called the Program for the Advancement of Montenegrin Education. I have to thank the European Investment Bank and the European Union for supporting all our projects, and this one is of particular importance precisely because it relates to education. I believe that we will continue our successful cooperation in the future. "
