Published on: Jun 22, 2007 • 11:03 PM Author: Naslovna strana
The Partnership for Peace Council has held its second meeting today, chaired by Prime Minister Zeljko Sturanovic, as the Council Chairman.
The meeting considered the Draft Document on the Benefits of Partnership for Peace for Montenegro, prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The document, which was previously considered by the Montenegrin Interdepartmental Committee for the Partnership for Peace, presents the benefits of Montenegros involvement in the process of accession to PfP and NATO. It is designed to indicate positive and beneficial aspects of the membership in terms of political, military and defense and economic cooperation within PfP. The document also addresses the benefits of membership of the North Atlantic Alliance and provides answers to a number of questions raised in the public concerning those issues.
The Council adopted this information, recommending that it should undergo a standard procedure and be forwarded to the Government for consideration and adoption. It is a public document preceding the development of Montenegros Communication Strategy for PfP, which is to be designed, in accordance with the Governments conclusion, by the Ministry of Defense, Foreign Ministry and the Governments Public Relations Bureau, with support from NATO specialists and other international and domestic experts. The Partnership for Peace Council will consider this document as well.
