Results of the Call for Applications – EUR 750,000 for 17 new doctoral students

Last year, the Ministry of Science announced a call for applications for attractive doctoral scholarships and research for the first time, selecting 19 candidates and allocating about EUR 750,000 to that end. This year, the number of supported students has increased to 36, because additional 17 candidates have been selected under the new call, which means that EUR 1.5 million has been allocated in two years to strengthen human resources and research capacities. This is one of the most attractive calls for applications of the Ministry of Science, with conditions on a par with those offered in developed countries of the European Union.
Thus, the Ministry of Science has approved 17 scholarships for a period of up to three years, which include a monthly remuneration of EUR 700 for researchers, exemption from tuition fees for doctoral studies at universities in Montenegro, as well as significant research funding, with a focus on international or inter-sectoral mobility, in the amount of up to EUR 10,000 a year.

Previously, on 24 April, the Ministry of Science announced the second consecutive Call for Applications for Doctoral Scholarships at Universities in Montenegro in 2019/2020, open until 25 June 2019, with 33 applications submitted. Following the submission of applications, an administrative check was carried out, after which the applications of candidates who had passed this phase were sent for evaluation by international evaluators. Based on the results of the evaluation, the Ministry has prepared a ranked list of approved scholarships for doctoral research. The ranked list contains 17 scholarship awardees, of which thirteen in the fields of natural-mathematical, engineering, medical and agricultural sciences, and four in the field of social sciences and humanities.
The Ministry of Science plans to announce the same call for applications next year as well, within an effort to create a critical mass of about 50 young researchers, with the ultimate goal of retaining talents in Montenegro.
The ranked list of awardees of scholarships for doctoral research is available HERE.
