Podgorica, Montenegro (13 November 2019) -- The prospects of EU membership is a major driver of reforms in the Western Balkans, which is why the EU needs to find a response to current challenges within the enlargement agenda, said Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljević at today's meeting with a delegation of the Committee on European Affairs to the House of Representatives of the Czech Parliament.

Mr Drljević welcomed the commitment of the Visegrad Group in its effort to make the European integration of the Western Balkans be centre stage of the EU, especially emphasising the importance of the Czech support, which strongly advocates for the EU enlargement.

"While understanding the challenges facing the EU, which have caught the attention of Member States, so that some of them have put enlargement in the background, I still believe that the Union will find a response to the current challenges of the enlargement agenda and thus continue to be a factor of peace and stability and pledge support to the reform processes of the Western Balkans. Montenegro will certainly continue to work tirelessly to meet the standards necessary for membership," he underlined.
