On the second day of the Ministerial Conference on Digital Transformation: Reinventing Public Administration for Digital Age, Minister of Public Administration Suzana Pribilović participated in the ministerial panel - reflections, comments and commitments on digital transformation in the Western Balkan countries.

"The Government of Montenegro is committed to the digital development and modernisation of public administration. We are aware that the implementation of information technologies, interoperability, e-government and open data are the basis for improving the work of public administration. Modernisation of public administration goes hand in hand with digitisation, and citizens rightly expect public administration to be open, transparent and accessible to citizens. In this regard, Montenegro is working to achieve the goals of the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans and to apply EU standards. Currently, more activities are underway with the aim of consolidating all systems and enabling citizens and businesses to receive high-quality and fast service from the public administration, thereby reducing business barriers," Pribilović said.

"Digital transformation is a topic that is increasingly being discussed in Montenegro at the level of the ICT sector, institutions and international organisations, and there is a significant progress in the development of interoperability, e-democracy and open data," Pribilović noted.

She stressed that in the past year Montenegro made a step forward in redefining legal regulations that put digitisation at the center of all significant processes in the work of public administration.
Minister Pribilović pointed out that the digital age requires the transformation of the present business, not only of business processes in which interaction with citizens and businesses is achieved, but also the transformation of processes within public administration.

"In this regard, the Government of Montenegro, and above all, the Ministry of Public Administration, is continuously working to strengthen inter-departmental cooperation through the use of various mechanisms at the project and strategic levels. The result of this approach is to increase the number of institutions participating in the process of developing electronic services and to accept the use of shared infrastructure and application solutions managed by the Ministry of Public Administration, which are used by numerous state administration bodies," the Minister stressed.

Ministers from the region discussed the digital transformation in the Western Balkan countries - what has already been achieved in the process of digitisation and the state of physical infrastructure, as a precondition for digital transformation and activities in 2020.
