Podgorica, Montenegro (14 November 2019) -- Montenegro was called upon to continue its hard work and to fulfill its obligations under the Stabilisation and Association Process at today's 12th meeting of the Subcommittee on Economic and Financial Affairs and Statistics.
Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, as a leading institution in this field, as well as other competent institutions, presented to their counterparts from the European Commission updated and detailed information on the progress achieved in the areas covered by Chapter 17 - Economic and Monetary Union, Chapter 18 - Statistics, Chapter 32 - Financial Supervision and Chapter 33 - Financial and Budgetary Provisions.
Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljević pointed out that Montenegro has acquired the position of regional leader through hard work and dedication.
"At the same time, this position obliges us in the further process of accession to the EU, which is going to become increasingly demanding. We are pleased to share our knowledge and experience with neighbouring countries, as only the stable Western Balkans can be seen as a respectable factor in the context of a European perspective and full membership of the Union," he said, adding that through all the chapters covered by this Subcommittee significant results have been achieved, especially considering the activities of the Ministry of Finance during the past year.
