Minister Bogdanović takes part in UNESCO General Conference

Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović leads the Montenegrin delegation at the 40th UNESCO General Conference in Paris.

On the first day of the conference, Minister Bogdanović delivered address during the plenary session of the General Conference, during which he reiterated Montenegro's commitment to the fundamental principles of the organisation and thanked for the cooperation achieved in this multilateral framework.

In his speech, Minister Bogdanović called for further strengthening of cooperation and coordination among the members of the organisation, as well as with other international organisations. In particular, he highlighted the need for coordination on projects dedicated to strengthening the rule of law, as well as achieving measurable results in the field of media freedom, combating illegal smuggling of cultural property.

Minister Bogdanović particularly recalled that this year marks four decades since the devastating earthquake in Montenegro - emphasising the role that UNESCO has played in the process of supporting and remedying the consequences.

Minister Bogdanovic pointed out that global solidarity must still be the key in the fight against the effects of conflict and poverty, emphasising in particular the support and role of UNESCO in addressing global challenges.

Minister Bogdanović will participate tomorrow in the UNESCO General Conference as part of the working meeting of the Ministers of Culture.

Permanent Delegation of Montenegro to the UNESCO, whose members are Permanent Representative - Ambassador Ivan Ivanišević and Secretary General of the Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO Milica Nikolić also take part in the work of the UNESCO General Conference, attended by over 140 ministers and senior representatives of the Member States.
