Prime Minister Duško Marković congratulated Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Špiro Ivošević, six decades of existence and work of this faculty.

"For six decades the Faculty of Maritime Studies has been educating Montenegro’s seafarers and provides knowledge and skills that are recognised not only in our and regional frameworks, but also around the planet. In that manner, our best boaters and engineers represent Montenegro as competent commanders, officers and sailors on merchant navy ships," the Prime Minister's congratulatory message reads.

Let us also recall, on this occasion, the nine centuries of the long Montenegro’s maritime tradition, which with the establishing of the Higher Naval School and later the Faculty of Maritime Studies, has gained its modern dimension.

"Today, the Faculty of Maritime Studies has become a centre of educational and scientific research with the world competitive and recognised study programmes. This is supported by the fact that the majority of students at this faculty make their first boarding within three to six months after graduation," a congratulatory message reads.

Prime Minister Marković also recalled the maritime reputation of the Kotor town and not only its regional but also Mediterranean recognition, which made it, quite naturally, not only the headquarter but also the guardian of the naval spirit and tradition of the Faculty of Maritime Studies, seafarers and their families.
