Podgorica, Montenegro (26 November) -- Montenegro will continue to work intensively on fulfilling its European agenda and undertaken tasks and activities in order to the highest quality fulfilment of the reform process in all areas, it was noted at today’s Collegium for Negotiations on the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union, chaired by Prime Minister Duško Marković.

"It is important to show the capacity, strength and commitment to reforms. We understand the European context and their need for internal consolidation, but our European agenda will not and cannot have an alternative," Prime Minister Marković pointed out.

The permanent focus in the negotiation process, as the Prime Minister stated, remains on the rule of law but no less attention and energy should be aimed at fulfilling of the closing benchmarks and recommendations of this year’s Report for Montenegro and in other negotiating areas.

The meeting praised the fulfilment of the Collegium conclusions on a new, more dynamic and more transparent way of working. In this regard, it was pointed to the publication of the minutes of the working groups meetings and more intensive communication with representatives of the civil sector.

The session also agreed to prepare the Program of Accession of Montenegro to the EU, a strategic document which, considering the dynamic and continuous boost of the European legislation, will provide a framework for action on the European integration of our country, by the end of this year.
