Ministers Bogdanović, Shugang: People's Republic of China supports creation of creative hub within "17 + 1" Initiative

Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović met earlier today with Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China Luo Shugang

The meeting was held within the Forum in Skopje and previous cooperation in the areas of art and activities that should be in the focus during the upcoming time, were the topics of the conversation. 
Minister Bogdanović recalled that the formal cooperation between the two countries in the area of culture was established in 2008 and several joint projects have been implemented since then, such as the "Put svile" and the "Pojas" but also the continuous exchanges of artists and art students.

The meeting particularly discussed on activities within the Dubrovnik initiative "17+1", which united 17 Eastern and Central Europe countries and the People's Republic of China. On this occasion, the two officials discussed about projects that could be financed in Montenegro. Minister Bogdanović emphasised that supporting the process of establishing regional creative hubs would be of a particular significance, while Minister Luo expressed his readiness to finance the establishment of one of these facilities though the "17+1" Initiative. 

Both sides emphasized that the cinematography is another area of mutual interest. In this regard, Minister Shugang highlighted that the audience in China is informed about the film production of these area, primarily when it comes to the ex-Yugoslavia period. Informed about the fact that in the cultural policies of Montenegro, one of the priorities is exactly the development of the cinematography, Minister Luo Shugang emphasised that there is a possibility of establishing cooperation between film institutions of the two countries, aimed at potential joint projects. 

Minister Luo also stated that Montenegro, as a destination, is increasingly visited when it comes to the tourists from China and that he is familiar with the cultural heritage of our country. For this reason, as he stressed, it is necessary to continue active engagement in the implementation of the provisions of the Skopje declaration because it foresees specific instruments of support for projects, concerning cultural heritage. 

After the meeting, Minister Bogdanović expressed satisfaction with the agreed activities.

First of all, I came across a specific interest in cinema and I believe that we will establish closer cooperation exactly in this field. In addition, we talked about the results of the Dubrovnik initiative so far and the upcoming activities, while it is important to mention that this is precisely why we will implement some of the ideas, in regard to the creative hubs in Montenegro. Joint projects in the area of culture were one more of the topics of conversation, so I expect to intensify cooperation with the People's Republic of China in the upcoming period, on the basis of all that was agreed at today's meeting, Minister Bogdanović pointed out.
