In the past two years, the Government of Montenegro, in cooperation with the EU and other international partners, invested more than EUR one million in the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro, in order to acquire state-of-the-art equipment and strengthen the capacity of this institution.
"We can rightly say that Montenegro currently has the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology, which is far above the level of the countries of the region in terms of equipment, and as equipped as many similar European institutions. This confirms the Government's commitment to equip and strengthen this important institution to the maximum level," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović said.
Representatives of the Institute presented to the Deputy Prime Minister and his associates from the Directorate of Water Management the new equipment and the importance of its procurement and use. The equipment was provided from IPA Project Strengthening the Capacities for Implementation of the Water Framework Directive in Montenegro and the West Balkans Drina River Basin Management Project, funded by the Global Environment Facility and the Special Climate Change Fund. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the EU and international partners.
