Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurković, who is in London at the session of the International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) regular assembly, had a meeting today with the IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim.

Minister Nurković presented the maritime situation and the challenges facing Montenegro in that area, and requested assistance from the IMO Secretary-General, especially in training, adopting regulations, adopting protocols and overcoming deficiencies and challenges that were identified by IMO representatives who have recently carried out a control-audit of our country, the IMO member state.

The IMO Secretary-General praised Montenegro's efforts to reach the highest international standards and pledged assistance in technical and administrative terms.
Minister Nurković praised the work of the IMSAS audit team, who recently visited Montenegro, and pointed out to certain shortcomings that need to be addressed in order to reach the highest international maritime standards.

Such high-level gatherings in this area testify that Montenegro is recognised as a serious maritime country that strives to achieve the highest international standards.
