Ministry of Agriculture and WHO to organise national dialogue on Program of fruit, vegetables, milk and milk products to schools

Podgorica, Montenegro (28 November 2019) -- Within the organisation of the Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development and the World Health Organisation, a national, multisector dialogue at the topic "Program – fruit, vegetables, milk and milk products to schools – a path to healthy habits and better health of early childhood," will be held on Friday, 29 November.

The Ministry of Agriculture started the implementation of the Program – fruits, vegetables, milk and milk products for schools, in this school year, to boost the nutrition habits of children and to promote heathy lifestyle habits.

The establishment of the national dialogue and a quality multisector cooperation in the implementation of this program in schools, will contribute to its success and achievement of long – term benefits for today and future generations of our children.

Promoting adequate nutrition, physical activity and combating the evident epidemic of obesity in children in Montenegro is one of the priorities of the Government of Montenegro, within national policies with the expressed need for multisector cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović will open the conference.

Minister of Health Kenan Hrapović, the representatives of the Institute for Public Health and the representatives of the Ministry of Sports and Youth will also attend the conference.

Head of Office of the World Health Organisation in Montenegro Mina Brajović will address the attenders, after which experts of the organisation will speak on the topic of obesity in the population of children in Europe and Montenegro and present relevant comparative experiences of the EU Member States in implementing programs for the distribution of healthy meals to children in schools.

The Conference will be held at Hilton Hotel (Crystal Hall), in Podgorica, starting at 10:00.
