The Western Balkans Chamber Investment Forum (CIF) and the German Development Bank (KfW) signed today a contract through the Regional Challenge Fund (RCF), which disburse funds approved by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is intended for the development of vocational education through which greater labour force expertise adapted to the needs of the labour market will be provided.

Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for Economic Policy and Financial System Milutin Simović participated in the event organised by the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro on the occasion of signing this contract.

The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that in February this year the Office of the Secretary General of the Western Balkans Chamber Investment Forum was opened at the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and stressed that the concrete results of work of the Office and the Chamber Investment Forum are clearly shown by signing the aforementioned contract.

On behalf of the Government of Montenegro, Simović thanked KfW Bank and the German Federal Ministry for significant allocated funds that will be used to promote a competitive process for selecting innovative proposals in order to advance vocational education and training in the Western Balkan countries and to identify challenges in the field. When it comes to the necessity of regional cooperation, political, economic and security level is always emphasised, but cooperation at these levels is by no means possible without the advancement of education and training of young people and professional staff, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

DPM Simović suggested that the Western Balkans must use its enormous human resources potential and be significantly more competitive at the same time in attracting foreign investment and in the attractiveness of the labour market. He expressed satisfaction with the fact that the target groups of the "Regional Fund for Challenges in the Field of Vocational Education" are students of vocational education and training in the Western Balkans region, as well as persons who, according to the programme, are looking for decent employment, and have limited access to on-the-job training.

"The primary goal of the Government of Montenegro's policy is to achieve a European quality of life for citizens through dynamic economic growth, new jobs and improving the quality and sustainability of existing jobs," Simović said and added that "improving the education system is at the top of our national priorities."

"We want to get a workforce that can meet the needs of the labour market," the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
