Ambassador Moore expressed satisfaction with the quality of cooperation with the previous Government and hope that it would be intensified in the forthcoming period. Having congratulated Montenegro on its foreign policy accomplishments, Ambassador Moore voiced confidence that Montenegro would serve as a role model for the region. He underlined that the United States would continue providing strong support to Montenegros efforts towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which would be clearly confirmed at the forthcoming NATO Summit in Bucharest, early next month.

Prime Minister Djukanovic reiterated the new Governments strong commitment to furthering economic and social reform and resolutely implementing activities aimed at integrating Montenegro into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. In this regard, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of US support to Montenegros progress towards NATO membership. In particular, he emphasized the attention the Government of Montenegro would pay to developing the Communication Strategy aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of Montenegros accession to NATO, above all in terms of promoting the security and democratic environment for further development of the Montenegrin society.

Both sides concluded that Montenegros active participation in the Intensified Dialogue and efficient implementation of the Communication Strategy, until the next NATO Summit in Berlin in 2009, would be a considerable incentive to Montenegros further progress towards Euro-Atlantic integration. Ambassador Moore underscored his governments unreserved commitment to continue supporting Montenegro in terms of strengthening democratic institutions and administrative capacity. At the meeting, reference was also made to the opportunities for promoting economic cooperation and the security developments in the region.
