Press release: Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets with Head of EC Delegation to Montenegro, Ambassador Leopold Maurer

Having welcomed Ambassador Maurers appointment as Head of the EC Delegation to Montenegro, Prime Minister Djukanovic reiterated his Governments strong commitment to the advancement of economic and social reforms, with the purpose of improving the quality of life of the population. At the same time, he underlined Montenegros unreserved commitment to fulfilling the tasks set before it on the path to EU membership.
Ambassador Maurer expressed the European Commissions readiness to support Montenegros efforts towards European integration. By the same token, Montenegros forthcoming application for EU membership would be considered in the near future and realized in close communication and cooperation with the European Commissions Delegation.
Prime Minister Djukanovic informed his guest of the importance his Government attached to the implementation of EC-funded programs for aspiring EU members.
In this regard, strong emphasis was placed on Montenegros further progress towards EU, in the context of promoting stability and boosting foreign investment, all in accordance with the objectives of administrative capacity building, combating organized crime and corruption and environmental protection. Both sides agreed that full establishment of the EC Delegation in Podgorica would enable a closer cooperation and more effective implementation of joint projects.
