Press release: Prime Minister Djukanovic meets newly appointed Macedonian Ambassador to Montenegro Stefan Nikolovski

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic received a visit today from the newly appointed Macedonian Ambassador to Montenegro Stefan Nikolovski.

Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Nikolovski on his appointment, wishing him a successful diplomatic mission in Montenegro, which would certainly enhance the already very good relations between the two countries. He expressed satisfaction with the fact that traditionally good political relations between Montenegro and Macedonia were characterized by frequent top-level meetings.

The Prime Minister reiterated the Governments strong commitment to making further progress in European and Euro-Atlantic integration, adding that in this process Montenegro would be a reliable partner to all countries of the region. By the same token, Prime Minister Djukanovic expressed hope that Macedonia, together with Croatia and Albania, would receive an invitation to join NATO at the forthcoming Bucharest Summit, which would reinforce regional stability and European perspective of the region as a whole.

Having congratulated the Prime Minister on his reelection, Ambassador Nikolovski voiced his satisfaction at being appointed the first Macedonian diplomatic representative in Montenegro. He underlined that during his term of office he would strive to promote cooperation between the two friendly countries that share a significant number of common goals. The Macedonian Ambassador expressed hope that his country, having met all the political and military requirements, would receive an invitation to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

He agreed that the accession of the three Western Balkan countries to NATO would make a considerable contribution to the overall stability and security of the region.

Reference was also made other regional issues, particularly in the context of the common future of the Balkan countries. In addition, both sides underscored their interest in materializing the economic, cultural and scientific cooperation.
