Podgorica, Montenegro (17 December 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković congratulated citizens and the local leadership of Podgorica on Capital City Day - 19 December, assessing that full agreement on development priorities, successful cooperation and synergy of the Government and the largest Montenegrin city in development projects, brings numerous benefits to citizens.

"I am particularly pleased to see, as yesterday in Tivat, that the Capital also plans and implements projects and contents that make citizens' lives better and more meaningful. The Government will continue to support these projects," Prime Minister Duško Marković stated at a meeting with a delegation of Podgorica, led by Mayor Ivan Vuković.

The Prime Minister and the Mayor of the Capital assessed the projects that are under preparation or underway, such as the Western bypass, the Boulevard in Donja Gorica, the second phase of the Boulevard towards Tuzi and the eastern stand of the City Stadium, as successful.

"Thanks to the successful economic policy of the Government and your support for local community projects, it has never been built so much across the Montenegro that is often a problem for a construction operative to meet a number of requirements and projects. We use this to fully shape the image of Podgorica as a modern city of development," the Mayor noted. Speaking about the achievements, Mayor Vuković informed the Prime Minister that all contacts indicate that citizens see and feel the local government draw close to them and that is increasingly service of citizens.

The meeting concluded that the Government and the Capital will intensify cooperation especially on projects of business zones, where many new jobs are expected to be created and on projects related to environmental protection.

The Prime Minister and the delegation of the Capital agreed on the need for further boost of traffic in Podgorica. The Prime Minister pointed to the possibility of using part of the money that would come to the Capital from airports concessions, to systematically tackle challenges of urban and suburban transportation.

Deputy Mayors Časlav Vešović and Slađana Vujačić also attended the meeting.
