Prime Ministe Duško Marković said taht Montenegro is working on infrastructure towards neighbouring Albania and that the project of reconstruction of the Vladimir - Ostros road will be completed by mid-2020.
"The projected value of the works on the reconstruction of the 18 km long road [Virpazar - Ostros - Vladimir section] is between 9 and 10 million euros. After the project is done, we will be looking for the possibilities and modalities for funding the construction of this significant road," said the Prime Minister, answering a question by Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Genci Nimanbegu.
The Prime Minister, answering the question about the date of the opening of the Ckla-Zogaj border crossing between Montenegro and Albania, said that the agreement was signed last year and that the commissioning of this border crossing is expected to accelerate the economic and tourist valorisation of the entire Skadar Lake region, and to improve the opportunities for economic development and employment of the population from the Krajina area in the Municipality of Bar, but also to increase the level of security.
"As I told you in April 2018 when you were interested in the construction of this border crossing, I want to reiterate now that new border crossings are not only significant in economic terms, but in terms of stability and security of the State as well. Montenegro will, I believe very soon, become the EU's external border. That is why we need to ensure high-quality mobility at border crossings, while at the same time they mean the safety and security of the common European space. Through intensive communication and cooperation between the interior ministries, the commitment to work together to raise the level of border security in Montenegro and Albania, and at the same time to ensure better operational and passability at border crossing, was confirmed, "said Prime Minister Dusko Markovic. .
The Prime Minister said that he was informed that the road project to the border crossing had been completed and that the tender for the selection of contractors will be announced by 25 December.
"Our goal is to further improve regional cooperation and good neighbuorly relations between the two countries, through more efficient cross-border cooperation, development of infrastructure, and improvement of economic activity and economic exchange," Prime Minister Duško Marković concluded.
