Prime Minister Duško Marković stated at the Prime Minister's Questions session that the position of young people and rural development deserve undivided attention of the Government, and that high-quality transport, energy and local infrastructure, as well as incentives, are the Government's priorities in rural areas development and that the Government has allocated considerable funds for that purpose.
"Take for example the Jezerine - Lubnica road, in which the Government is investing more than EUR 30 million. After the completion of this project, it will take only 10 minutes from Lubnica to the state-of-the-art winter resort Kolašin 1600, through newly built tunnel. It is needless to say how much development potential this road brings to this area, ranging from the construction of hotels and tourist resorts to the agricultural production that will be necessary to supply them. The same is the case with the Bijelo Polje villages, which lead to the Đalovića Cave and the Cmiljača ski resort, in which the Government is currently investing millions of euros. Equally, the construction of the motorway will have a direct impact on the development of the Montenegrin villages, and it is a project whose multiplicative effects will be best experienced by those areas located along the Bar -Boljare motorway. Therefore, good transport network, i.e. road construction is the most direct answer to your question," said Prime Minister Duško Marković, answering a question about the measures taken by the Government of Montenegro to develop the Montenegrin rural areas.
The Prime Minister said that villagers should be motivated to stay in their homes and start families there in order to make living in the country a privilege.
He also reiterated that recently investors doing business in the coastal area have been interested in investing in the Northern Region.
"This momentum of tourism development, with increasingly potent winter tourism with the investments of tens of millions of euros, and with innumerable natural resources yet to be valorised, demonstrates that the future of the North lies in agricultural and food production. I am convinced that the rural population will no longer have to migrate to cities for below-average wages. On the contrary! I am sure that in a few years, maybe a decade, we will have a reverse migration - from city to countryside,” Prime Minister Duško Marković concluded.
