PM Marković hosts Ambassador Plug: Montenegro is leader in EU integration, Netherlands appreciates progress made

Montenegro is at the forefront of the European integration process, the Netherlands appreciates the progress made and will continue to support its reform efforts on the path to the European Union, Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković and Ambassador of the Netherlands to Montenegro Gilles Beschoor Plug underlined at today's meeting in Podgorica.

"Montenegro has shown that it has social and democratic potential. We are proud of the results we have achieved since restoring independence. The Netherlands has always supported us on the path of reforms and the achievement of our European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, and I want to thank you for that," said Prime Minister Marković.

Noting that Montenegro and the region need a strong Europe that will be holding firmly a leadership position, Prime Minister Marković added that Montenegro is committed to pursuing reforms and making further progress in the area of ​​the rule of law.

Ambassador Plug emphasised that the Netherlands believes that Montenegro and the region should be part of the European Union, and that EU membership is a matter of values and rules.

"We appreciate the progress Montenegro has made," Ambassador Plug pointed out.

Both sides agreed that there is room for excellent political bilateral relations to be enhanced by boosting economic cooperation, and in that context, Prime Minister Marković said that the business environment and investment security in Montenegro are at a high level.
