Podgorica, Montenegro (24 December 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković, launched earlier today a new device for external radiation at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG) and stated that due to the very high achieved economic growth, in the term of this Government, generous investments in the health system and improvement of the quality of citizens health care are possible.

"It is exactly one year since we jointly put into operation a linear accelerator, worth over EUR 2, 5 million. I stated at the time that this year we would provide another of the approximate value - to completely eliminate waiting lists and allow patients to get a start date for therapy within a period of no longer than seven days, from a consular decision. We have fulfilled our promise to patients and have stood in front of all the clinics and hospitals in the region, in this therapeutic opportunity. So, after an investment, which excess over EUR 5 million in the last year, our Oncology Clinic has three modern appliances, which is why the need to send our patients to foreign treatment centres is almost no longer needed," the Prime Minister stated at a ceremony to the Clinic for Oncology and Radiotherapy of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro, on putting into operation a new external radiation device.

The Prime Minister noted that thanks to the commitment and effort of the Clinical Centre management, he was able to fulfill the promise given to citizens and patients on last December.

Until now, we allocated over EUR 10 million for the purchase of the modern equipment, with an additional EUR 5 million invested in renovating health facilities through the energy efficiency project.

"Continuous investment in equipment and facilities was followed by investment in medical personnel. The Specialist Training Plan for 2019, has allocated funds for the allocation of 108 specializations and 35 narrower specializations, with the Government allocating annually over EUR 3 million for these needs. This means that our doctors will take care of citizen health with numerous modern equipment. They are available every day, in our country. In the term of this Government, Montenegro is recording economic growth at rates, characteristic to the most developed countries of Europe. Citizens feel numerous effects of such economic policy. Whether directly or indirectly as today - through a direct contribution to a better quality of the healthcare system. In support of this is the budget of the Health Insurance Fund best, which in the next year, will be EUR one hundred million higher in letter and number, compared to the beginning of the Government's term in 2016," Prime Minister Duško Marković pointed out.

The Prime Minister pointed to the conditions for improving the position of employees are created in such an environment, primarily through the increase of salaries, adding that this can only be done in accordance in line with the possibilities that exist due to the continued economic growth and our strategic commitment to persist in the consolidation of the public finance in the medium term.

"For this reason, I am aware that the proposed solutions are not always the ones expected. But through dialogue and partnership, I am convinced that we can get a better, if not the best, solution, which is certainly not finally, but the starting one," the Prime Minister noted.

The Prime Minister stressed that about three thousand people get sick of malignant diseases in Montenegro annually and cancer, as a disease and a plague of a modern society, which does not choose years, can be prevented by prevention and regular check-ups.

"Therefore, the health care system, which we boost every day, will be a strong support and service for our citizens. Especially with regard to the prevention and rapid availability of regular check-ups and specialist examinations. I expect the Ministry and all health care institutions, to pay particular attention to this commitment. The Government will continue to invest in medical profession, equipment and facilities - to make them a stronger support for a healthier and more satisfied nation," Prime Minister Duško Marković concluded at the launching ceremony of a new external radiation device at the Clinic for Oncology and Radiotherapy of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro.
