The State of Israel is a credible partner for cooperation in the field of military industry and equipment

The Minister of Defense of Montenegro Predrag Bošković is visiting the Ministry of Defense of the State of Israel in order to sign the Implementation Agreement for the purpose of obtaining the remote control weapon systems (RCWS) for the tactical light armored vehicles (JLTV).

During his visit to Israel, Minister Bošković met with the Director General of the Ministry of Defense of the State of Israel, Major General Retired Udi Adam and emphasized that overall cooperation between Montenegro and Israel, as two partner countries, was at an enviable level. Regarding the modernization of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Bošković pointed out that Montenegro's full membership in the Alliance, requires equipping the Army in accordance with NATO's defense planning process, as well as the new strategic legislative framework established in line with contemporary security challenges. In that light, Bošković emphasized that the primary focus of the modernization of the Armed Forces of Montenegro is the procurement of tactical light armored vehicles, for equipping of two declared infantry troops of the Armed Forces, which will contribute to the realization of one of the most important NATO capabilities goals. General Udi Adam stressed that Israel would remain committed to supporting Montenegro in improving its national defense capabilities. 
 
During his visit to Israel, Minister Bošković signed the Implementation Agreement, according to which will be realized the procurement of the remote control weapon systems (RCWS) for the tactical light armored vehicles (JLTV). This equipment will increase the firepower of the units of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, as well as bring the protection of the crew of the vehicles to higher level.

In the context of this procurement, Minister Bošković informed the interlocutor that Montenegro has signed the contract with the United States for the procurement of 67 Oshkosh light armored patrol vehicles, based on which the first delivery of the vehicle is expected in the second half of 2020. After the procurement, the installation of the remote control weapon will start. 

The Minister also emphasized that, after detailed market research and in accordance with the required technical characteristics of the remote control weapon, the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro selected the Israeli company 'Elbit Systems’, highlighting that experience and technological improvement of Israel in the field of Defense Industry recommend that country as a credible partner for establishing an appropriate cooperation in this area.
