On behalf of the Government of Montenegro, Minister Sanja Damjanović signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Daniela Gasparikova, UNDP Resident Representative for Montenegro.

On this occasion, Minister Damjanović expressed her satisfaction with the signing of the MoU, explaining that the purpose of the document was to define the framework for cooperation in more detail, as well as to facilitate and strengthen cooperation between the two parties, especially in terms of implementation of the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Montenegro (S3). “The Memorandum of Understanding also intends to provide a strategic framework for cooperation at all levels between the newly formed Council for Innovation and Smart Specialisation in Innovation and Technology and UNDP, as well as to facilitate the joint identification of innovation capacities in the country based on the S3 programme directions”, she added.

UNDP Resident Representative for Montenegro Daniela Gasparikova indicated that McKinsey & Co survey showed that 84% of managers thought that their future success depended on innovation. “Innovation enables companies to retain a competitive edge and stay ahead of the competition. Similarly, innovation encourages resolution of societal and development challenges. In this context, UNDP is providing continuous support to the Government of Montenegro in implementing innovations within an effort to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Through the MoU we signed today, we express our intention to intensify our support to the Government in defining ambitious and measurable interventions that will support the country’s sustainable development”, Gasparikova said.
