Podgorica, Montenegro (25 December 2019) -- Security situation in Montenegro is stable and remarkable and high-quality results in the fight against organised crime and corruption have been achieved at all levels, it was noted at a session of the National Security Council chaired by Prime Minister Duško Marković.
"We are pleased to note today, the good results of the Police Directorate in the fight against all forms of crime, which is why we have a stable security situation and safety for each of our citizen," Prime Minister Marković pointed out.
In the previous period there were significant investments in material and technical equipment of the police, and new investments in this area were planned for next year, the Prime Minister added. All of this is a key precondition for the continued successful work of the Montenegrin police, which, as the Council concluded, should continue with strong activities to prevent all forms of crime, focusing on combating narcotics smuggling, trafficking, confiscation of property, financial investigations and all other forms of crime that undermines the stability of the state.
Also, strengthening cooperation and full professional unity of all authorities in charge for implementing the law in fight against serious and organised crime and tackling all security challenges, were defined as Council's priorities.
The session discussed information on tackling hybrid threats and cyber activities. The Council noted the need for a complete exchange of information within state and local government authorities, as well as to boost cooperation with critical infrastructure operators, in order to respond to national security challenges in a quality manner.
Minister of Transport Osman Nurković, Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić, Minister of Public Administration Suzana Pribilović and Police Director Veselin Veljović, also attended the Council.
