Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns acts of vandalism in front of premises of Montenegrin embassies in Belgrade, Ljubljana and Consulate - General in Sremski Karlovci

Podgorica, Montenegro (30 December 2019) -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the vandal appearances made on 27, 28 and 29 December, out of the premises of the Montenegrin embassies in the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Slovenia and the Consulate - General in Sremski Karlovci.
On the occasion of printing the offensive content graffiti in front of the buildings of the Embassy of Montenegro in Belgrade and the Consulate General in Sremski Karlovci, as well as the protests held in Belgrade, during which the Montenegrin flag was attempted to be burn, the Embassy reacted timely and took appropriate measures, after which members of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia came to the scene and conducted an investigation and were engaged to provide the security of the Embassy. The Ministry of Interior members informed that they would submit the case to the competent prosecutor for further action.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the attempt of burning the flag, as an inappropriate act and an attempt to desecrate the state symbols of a neighbouring and friendly state.
Regarding the alienation of the sign board with an inscription of the Embassy of Montenegro, in the Republic of Slovenia, an act committed by an unknown person on 28 December, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that all appropriate measures and actions were also promptly taken, in line with legal procedures.
Officers of the Police Directorate have taken evidence from the scene and will keep us informed in a timely manner. Meanwhile, level of protection of the Embassy building has been raised to another level, according to the relevant security services estimates.
Regarding these cases, regular communication with the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Slovenia is ongoing.
