Podgorica, Montenegro (30 December 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković, congratulated the leadership and citizens of Bijelo Polje on the upcoming Municipality Day, noting great results that were achieved in consolidation of public finances in the previous period, but also faster and better development of the city.
"Together we have produced serious results that are encouraging and giving a new perspective to the development of the city and a better quality of life for the citizens of Biella Polje," the Prime Minister noted at a meeting with Mayor Petar Smolović and President of the Municipal Assembly Abaz Dizdarević.
The meeting noted satisfaction with the implementation dynamics of a large number of capital projects, above all the mountain centre on Cmiljača, worth EUR 23 million and the valorisation of Đalovića cave for which the contracts worth over EUR 10 million were signed.
Over the past two years, the Public Works Administration has implemented projects worth about EUR 20 million. Prime Minister Marković emphasized the significance of boosting communal infrastructure in the city, for which, according to Smolović, the funds were allocated.
Asphalting of a significant number of local roads has been completed in Bijelo Polje, and the reconstruction of the main roads is planned for the next period, for which more than EUR 46 million will be allocated. With the completion of the first section of the motorway, which is expected in the autumn of the next year, Bijelo Polje will have significantly improved road infrastructure, as a key precondition for the overall development of the city.
Prime Minister Marković pointed out that all these projects will have a multiplier effect, and all citizens who want to develop their business will benefit, particularly in the area of tourism and agriculture. In this manner, we will have new and safe jobs.
Mayor of Municipality Smolović stressed that they consolidated public finances, but also eliminated numerous business barriers to encourage new investments in Bijelo Polje.
