Finance Minister Radunović: We create environment for economy and economic activities

"We create an environment for the economy and economic activities," Minister of Finance Darko Radunović said at a traditional meeting of the Prime Minister and members of the Government of Montenegro with business people held in the Montenegrin Chamber of Economy, noting that in the last quarter of 2019, the Law on Public Procurement, the Law on Public Private Partnership and the Law on Concessions were adopted.

"The fact is that we have a high tax burden on labour, 41% in our country and 36.5% in the EU countries. This year we have reduced the employer-based health insurance by 2 percentage points, and from the New Year the crisis tax will be reduced by 2 and we have increased the minimum price and I think it is a pretty good trend," Minister Radunović said and emphasised that this decrease had little effect on the increase of the average salary in Montenegro and did not reflect on the employers.

When it comes to the electronic fiscal system, he stated that we failed to complete the tender in time with the World Bank and thus delayed the application for one year. Furthermore, he emphasised that the system is a good tool in the fight against the grey economy, and next year will serve as a good test period and possibility to choose a good bidder.

"We have created fiscal stability and we control two of the most important macroeconomic indicators - deficit and public debt, but we have to take into account any revenue that goes into the budget, we are under fiscal consolidation measures and we have to keep that in mind. We have to be very careful when changing the way and the model of the tax burden on labour," Minister Radunović concluded.
