Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the meeting with business people that the Montenegrin economy has achieved tremendous success over the past three years, that it is the result of cooperation between the Government and the economy and that we continue at this pace in 2020.

"The cooperation between the Government and the Chamber of Economy is for me the biggest capital we have achieved in these three years. That is why we have a result that is not only the result of the efforts of the Government and institutions, but also the result of the economy. Thank you very much for moving things forward,"said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said that Montenegro is on the right track.

"We have built confidence in ourselves and our abilities along this path. We have become aware of our resource and the potential we have and on the basis of that resource we can create a new value in Montenegro, which will be of benefit to both the state and the individual," said PM Marković.

The Prime Minister said that thanks to the synergy provided, an economy that saw the growth among the highest ones in Europe was launched.

Among the positive results, in addition to the fact that our economy in the past three years was one of the fastest growing in Europe, the Prime Minister cited a decrease in unemployment from above 22.8% in February 2017 to 16.3 this year, reducing the budget deficit to below 3% as defined by the Financial Consolidation Strategy with the inability of sudden financial shocks to threaten economic policy. PM Marković added that over the past three years, EUR 850 million has been allocated for development, which is why the whole of Montenegro is now one big construction site.

Prime Minister Marković mentioned the importance of digital infrastructure as unprecedented opportunity for Montenegro.

Collection of state revenues is far better than before, said the Prime Minister, adding that the collection was above EUR three billion and that it was the result of a new commitment and a new code of business in our country. He added that in just three years, the tax debt was reduced by EUR 190 million.

The record 2019 tourist year is the year in which 2.6 million tourists came to our country, with tourism revenue of 1.1 billion. Only this year 49 hotels were opened, while 103 new hotels were opened in three years. Montenegro is being promoted as a good tourist and investment destination.

The Prime Minister mentioned the important transformation project of the submarine cable between Montenegro and Italy, saying that this project puts our country from the margins at the center of the region's energy policy.

Ever-increasing investments in healthcare and reforms in education are evidence of reforms and success - said the Prime Minister.

PM Marković praised the reform of the business environment.

"We are on the right track, our result is excellent, we should not bow to hysteria and negative campaigning, but continue to create our economic policy in this way," the Prime Minister said. He added that all this confirms that these are not ad-hoc actions, but rather the results of a well-designed policy and sustainable development.

"We are continuing at the same pace in 2020, aware of our weaknesses. … And 2020 must be a year of even bigger growth than 2019. I expect it to be around 4%," concluded Prime Minister Duško Marković, adding that from next year these meetings with business people will be held twice a year, instead of once a year.
